The day Microsoft killed the desktop with their bare hands...

Apparently Microsoft took the words of the late Steve Jobs literal, and somewhere out there Steve is probably thinking that he may have duped Microsoft with that whole post-pc era comment. Because the early consensus with the Windows 8 consumer preview are words like,"sucks", "I hate it", where the hell is my my start button", and the quintessential I am on a PC not a f****** tablet".

Personally, I have yet to download the newest preview, but that's only because I hated the original preview so much, I refuse to give it 20 gigs of my precious 1TB drive. If their was a "Windows" tablet I might like this, I mean if I didn't have an awesome tablet running Android's ICS, which brings me to Microsoft's biggest problem. What happens if your all in, and no one likes it?

MS might have done us all a disservice with Windows 8, but mostly themselves. My prediction is 8 will have a worst adoption rate than Vista and ME, to radical for most and just out of place for the rest of us. It's a solution that doesn't have a problem. The marriage of desktop and mobile needs to happen gradually, not to mention they are two uniquely different platforms. Again Microsoft, you leave me wondering, "why don't you get it", change for the sake of change is not always good and radical can bite you in the ass. I give this round to Apple who has been sneaking good element of IOS into the desktop, personally I can't wait for Mountain Lion a true marriage of the platforms that takes the best pieces of OSX and IOS and puts them together for the betterment of all.

The fact that MS has chosen to take the the UI from the doomed and KO'ed Zune, ignore our apparent distaste or discomfort and bet the entire farm including Xbox on this monstrosity, frankly has left this geek feeling a little puzzled. Listen to me Microsoft and listen good, there are somethings that don't work, IOS on desktop, no, Chrome OS, no, now add to that list Metro UI. Trust me MS this will be your finest disaster. To sum it all up in one word, "yuk."

My first official ICS device!!!!

Thank you Asus...

Okay, it has been an awesome day already. Woke up this morning to my first "official: Ice Cream Sandwich update. My first gen Asus Transformer has been blessed with ICS goodness. Even though officially it's not my first ICS device, my EVO gets thats distinction, my EVO is running an unofficial rooted alpha version which is ok. But hats off to ASUS for following through where so many manufacturers have dropped the ball and actually delivering it's second ICS device.

First impressions is that ICS is incredibly smooooth and futuristic, it feels a lot lighter than Honeycomb felt, but that analysis comes from only 15 minutes of usage. I may follow this up with a video review later pending real world obligations. Stay tuned.

*Update Just had my first negative experience. Random reboot and then extended boot looping. First issue I have ever had with my Transformer. Interesting....Stay tuned.

Client Testimonial - Anytime Fitness

We recently performed a major upgrade for an Anytime Fitness Franchise.

The facility was transitioned from the traditional peer server configuration to a cloud based solution

Their emails were moved from a POP to an IMAP based email solution.

They could access their information regardless of their location and on their various devices PC and Mac as well as their tablets and smart phones!

The franchise owner said once transition was complete "I am sorry I every doubted you!"

Their workload decreased due to the elimination of recreating the same document multiple times and their need to email and fax was dramatically reduced

In this business we get to play with all the cool stuff that people with awesome imaginations create. Well our IOS development partner Zero Day Studios has produced an app that is not only cool, but needless to say could be very useful. What if you knew on what days your significant other (girlfriend, wife, mistress, etc) could get pregnant? For some of us this information might of been very valuable? Well, we will be interviewing the founder of Zero Day Studios very soon and find out just WTH were they thinking?

Redefining Business.

It's been a long 2011, and for some of us a year to reflect and to rebuild. So here at Ethyrial, we analyzed, regrouped, made some cuts and now were back swinging. So 2012 will be: "the year of the small business", and we plan to make sure of that.

All this year we be launching some incredible, newly rethought services to help anyone who has a dream of starting a company become the boss they all always wanted to be, and here's the kicker we're gonna help foot the bill.
